Musubu Recipes Privacy Policy

Musubu Recipes (musubuレシピ, the “App”) is an iOS app provided by Yuta Ishiyama (the “Developer”). It imports recipes from videos, web pages and photos, and builds a cooking plan for making several dishes at the same time. This policy explains what information the App handles and how it is used.

1. Information we collect

Anonymous account identifier: On first launch the App automatically creates an anonymous Firebase Authentication account. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number or other personal information. The identifier is used only to manage your monthly import allowance and to sync your library.
Content you send for import: The URL and description of a video you ask the App to import, the URL and text of a web page, photos you take, PDFs, and text you type. These are sent to our server to structure the recipe and are processed with Google’s generative AI (Gemini API).
Library data: The structured data of imported recipes (ingredients, steps and so on), tags, notes and estimated nutrition values. They are stored on our server (Google Cloud Firestore, Tokyo region) so that your library can sync between devices.
Purchase information: To confirm your Premium status, our server verifies the signed purchase information issued by Apple (product ID and expiration date) and stores only the expiration date. Payment details such as card numbers are handled by Apple and never reach the Developer.
Device integrity checks: To prevent abuse of our API we use Apple DeviceCheck and Firebase App Check. They contain no information that links a device to a person.
Usage statistics: We count how often features are used (for example starting Cook Mode, adding to a meal plan, showing the rating prompt) per anonymous account identifier. Recipe contents are not included. These counts are used only to improve the App.
Contact and problem reports: When you use “Contact / Feedback” in the App we receive the category, your message and an optional reply email address, together with the automatically attached anonymous account identifier, app version, device model and iOS version. “Report a problem” on a recipe sends the category, your note, and the URL and title of the source video or page. They are used only to reply, investigate issues and improve the App.

Family likes and dislikes: The nicknames, disliked foods, liked foods and reactions you register under “Family Likes & Dislikes” are stored only on your device. They are never sent to our server and the Developer cannot see them. They are deleted when you delete the App.

The App shows no advertising and does not track you for advertising purposes (no IDFA).

Importing and structuring recipes, estimating nutrition, and building cooking plans
Syncing your library between devices
Managing the monthly import allowance (free plan) and Premium
Preventing abuse and investigating failures
Replying to your messages and improving the App

3. Third parties and processors

The Developer entrusts the processing of information, within the purposes above, to the following service providers. We do not sell or provide information to any other third party.

Google LLC (Firebase Authentication / Cloud Functions / Firestore / App Check, Gemini API)
Apple Inc. (App Store payments, DeviceCheck)
Discord Inc. (to notify the Developer of contact messages and problem reports; includes the message, the optional reply email address and the identifier)

Import results (the structured recipe data) may be reused as a shared cache for other users who import the same video or web page. The cache contains no information that identifies who imported it.

4. Retention and deletion

Library data is kept until you delete it in the App. Uninstalling the App may leave the data tied to your anonymous account on the server. To have it deleted, open “Settings → Contact / Feedback” in the App, choose “Request data deletion” and send (the identifier is attached automatically). You can also email the address below; in that case please include the identifier shown on the Settings screen.
Contact messages are deleted about one year after we reply.
Photos, PDFs and text sent for import are not stored on the server after the recipe has been structured (only the structured recipe data is kept).

5. Security

All communication is encrypted with TLS. The server accepts requests only from authenticated copies of the App.

6. Children

The App is not intended for use by anyone under 13 years of age.

7. Changes

Changes to this policy will be published on this page. If a change is significant we will also let you know inside the App.
